Virtual Power Plant (VPP) startup SODEN has completed a third-party allotment of shares in its seed round, bringing its total cumulative equity and debt funding to 2.26 billion JPY.
Amid rising energy costs and price volatility driven by structural shifts in Japan's power market, SODEN was founded in 2022 to build an open world with absolute control over electricity. Entering its third fiscal year, the company has achieved rapid profitability, registering 2.82 billion JPY in revenue and 180 million JPY in operating income.

CEO Rui Iino previously steered a prior startup to a successful M&A exit, establishing a transparent and highly resilient financial foundation at SODEN. While maintaining profitable operations, this strategic funding round addresses the heavy capital requirements needed to build grid-scale battery systems and proprietary energy management software.
Investors highly value SODEN’s engineering capability, turnkey execution, and "SODEN Platform"—an integrated energy management ecosystem combining AI-driven demand forecasting with algorithmic automated control. This funding will accelerate executive hiring and scale our distributed network of commercial energy storage systems.
Long-term, SODEN will expand into residential storage and electric vehicle (EV) energy services. By 2030, the company aims to scale its total distributed asset capacity to 2GWh, completing its visionary integrated energy management infrastructure.
