Launched EV fast charger lease program for Lexus and Toyota dealerships in partnership with Toyota Finance

Pilot deployment at three locations: Flattening upfront CAPEX through unified implementation support

VPP startup SODEN has partnered with Toyota Finance to launch a comprehensive fast charger lease program for Lexus and Toyota dealerships, bundling everything from initial deployment to ongoing operations. The program has completed its pilot rollout at three initial Lexus locations, successfully reducing upfront capital expenditure and minimizing administrative deployment overhead.

Background & Objectives

As EV and PHEV adoption accelerates across Japan, accessible on-site charging enhances the user experience and drives repeat dealership visits. However, fast charger deployment typically demands heavy initial capital and complex logistics, including hardware selection, engineering, contractor coordination, subsidy application, and ongoing maintenance.

This strategic program combines Toyota Finance’s structured financial solutions with SODEN’s nationwide contractor network and operational expertise. By flattening upfront costs and unifying the entire deployment pipeline, the partnership accelerates EV infrastructure development across dealerships.

Core Roles

  • Toyota Finance:Structured leasing scheme delivery, contract administration, insurance coverage, and tax management

  • SODEN:On-site evaluations, hardware selection & engineering, subsidy applications, construction, and ongoing operations

Program Features

  1. Capital Normalization:Equalized expenditures covering all hardware and installation costs

  2. Turnkey Deployment:Unified contractor coordination and equipment procurement

  3. Compliance Management:Complete subsidy application handling

  4. Asset Administration:Integrated insurance and local tax management

Pilot Locations

The lease program has been deployed at three initial Lexus dealerships, utilizing high-output 150kW fast chargers:

  • Lexus Koishikawa (150kW / 1 Port) — 4-1-1 Kohinata, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan

  • Lexus Tokushima (150kW / 1 Port) — 5-1-130 Nakamaegawa-cho, Tokushima-shi, Tokushima, Japan
